Stars in the Night

Hey guys! I’m sorry it’s been so long since I last posted. I’ve kind of been subsistence life-ing since the start of school (that sounded way better in my head XD). Anyways, I had an amazing Labor Day weekend and I wanted to share with everyone what happened (even if it is a week late).

It all started with Friday night. I felt really far away from God, and I desperately wanted to fix that. I decided to stay up late and just pray/worship. It was a good night, even though I fell asleep a bit later than I probably should have.

Saturday and Sunday both went the same. We just stayed home and did nothing (we didn’t even go to church). My family and I watched some of Hallmark’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” movies. They had some Christianity mixed in and they were just so amazing. Both nights I stayed up late to pray (mostly singing, but hey it counts) again.

The amazing thing happened on Monday. I was solemnly listing to “Word of God Speak” by MercyMe. It literally brought me to my knees. Later on that night, I was listening to “Starlight” by Bethel Music. I was sitting in my desk chair, just staring out the window and seeking God. That song has so many awesome lyrics:

“Oh, you’re not far away
You come in close
And oh, even as I wait
You come in close”

“You are God with us
You are here with us
Emmanuel, oh Emmanuel
And you are infinite
Your glory has no end
Jesus, Jesus”

I was just singing along, and then it happened.

I saw a shooting star.

I immediately knew it was a sign from God, because really, how many shooting stars do you see while singing a song called “Starlight”? It was just amazing, knowing that God truly did care. He cared enough to make a star fall out of the sky right when I needed it to. I cried happy tears that night, knowing that God truly was with me.

It didn’t happen to be a song I sang that night, but God later brought to my attention “Light Up the Sky” by The Afters. Pretty much every single word in that song describes how I felt that night. It’s amazing how I never paid much attention to that song before, but after that experience it’s so spot-on it’s crazy.

I hope your Labor Day weekend was just as spectacular as mine! Keep seeking God, it’s well worth it. Always remember: you’re never too broken for God to fix you.

Jeremiah 29:13– You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

James 4:8a– Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.
