For I am conscious of my rebellion, and my sin is always before me. ~Psalm 51:3
When I am afraid, I will trust in you. ~Psalm 56:3
For your faithful love is as high as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches the clouds. ~Psalm 57:10
I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. ~Psalm 62:1
Do we have a response like David’s? David went through so much during his lifetime–killing a bear, lion, and giant; fleeing Saul for his life; his children killing one another. His house was filled with bloodshed as a result of his sins. He had a reason to be ashamed and scared, but instead, he wrote the Psalms.
We can learn a lot from David. David was a sinner just like the rest of us, yet God called him “a man after His own heart.” We don’t have to be perfect for God to accept us. We don’t have to be perfect for Him to protect us. He loves each one of us, despite all of our flaws and shortcomings.
We are just as much His children as David was. We’re never going to be perfect, but God will never reject us.
