I use YouVersion for all of my Bible reading, and some of the devotional plans on there are amazing. I’ve completed SO many of them over the past 6 months or so. But there’s one that I’ll never, ever forget.
I completed a three-day plan called Resting in His Power a couple weeks ago. The two very last lines of the third day’s devotional are “He’s got this. Rest in His power.” I just love those seven words. They give me a sense of peace, and I’ve found myself repeating them more than once.
I often struggle with anxiety. In fact, if I were tested, I’m 99% sure I’d be diagnosed with social anxiety disorder. It’s not an easy thing to ignore, and I recently had a mini episode (none of them have been anything major, though). I repeated those seven words, along with “Jesus, keep me near the cross,” from the familiar hymn. I was able to make it through that anxiety “attack” because of those phrases.
I wrote “He’s got this. Rest in His POWER” on a slip of paper and taped it behind a wall hanging that’s above my bed. Whenever I need to be reminded, I just take my board off the wall and read it.
I encourage you to find that special verse, phrase, song lyric, whatever it is that makes you happy or calm. Find something that brings you joy when you’re feeling down, guidance when you’re feeling like you lost your way, or strength when you’re being tempted by the devil.
“I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you.”
Jesus used scripture to resist Satan in the wilderness. So go find that special verse–that personal verse that makes you smile whenever you read it. My favorite is Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
Memorize whatever it is you find helpful. It just might come in handy later. And remember, He’s got this. Rest in His power.
