The songs I listen to usually depend on my mood. If I’m sad, then I’ll listen to slow, feel-good worship music. If I’m over the moon excited and ready to explode with joy, then I obviously go to the upbeat, make-you-wanna-dance music.
I’ve recently been struggling with school and my other responsibilities–I’ve been going nonstop for a while and I’m kind of experiencing burnout. But God has spoken to me a lot this weekend, and I feel that my hope and joy has been restored. I created a playlist with songs to match my feelings, and as I was going through the list I noticed how all the titles kind of worked together. I started forming sentences with them, and then I decided to write a blog post with those song titles (plus a few other songs that I was able to work in). So here it is! I’ve bolded all of the song titles, and the artists are listed below. Enjoy! 🙂
“I once lived a beautiful life; I once experienced the joy of Your salvation; I once noticed all of Your blessings in my life, God. I saw you move the mountains, and even after I started to lose hope I still believed You could do it again. For a long time I simply went through the motions, and I found myself always asking “is this as good as it gets?” But you, O’ Lord, heard my broken prayers! Your love broke thru the walls that the devil had told me to build my life inside of–the devil is a liar! You never stopped loving me and now I’ve finally experienced the comeback that You promised me, God! I was able to get back up because You told my heart to beat again*. You said “awake O sleeper” and now everything comes alive just like before! I’ve been changed by Your revival. You’ve given me a brand new day. Since I met You again, I found a way to walk in freedom. You’ve restored my joy. I asked You to start a fire in me, and now I’m a soul on fire. I have this amazing feeling–a feeling that this could change everything. I can hear the sound of a life changing–my life! It’s a good morning–a glorious day!
“You asked me to do something a long time ago, and Lord I’m ready now. The lies are out of my head—outta my mind–and my feet are on the rock. Today is day one and I’m on the edge of my seat! I’m all in, ready to work for You, God. I know that through all of it You are never gonna let me go— not today, not ever. I’ll move and keep walkin’ forward, Lord, because You’re the prize worth fighting for. I’m a warrior when I’m with You, Jesus, so ready set go. No Turning Back.”
