Prayer is something that I’ve been neglecting recently. I haven’t been just sitting down and talking to God as much as I used to, and I feel further from Him because of it.
Whenever there’s a long weekend for a holiday, I stay up extra late to talk to Him. I worship alone in the secret place. So this weekend is the perfect time to refresh and restart my prayer life. I’m going to start tonight.
I just learned in school the steps to healthy prayer: Adoration, Thanksgiving, Confession, Intercession (praying for others), and Supplication (praying for yourself). It spells Atcis, which I always remember because it makes me think of Atticus from To Kill a Mockingbird. XD
Anyway, it made me realize how often I pray for myself first. And most of the time I skip right over intercession. I occasionally pray for my friends, pastor, youth pastor, etc. but I don’t feel like “occasionally” is enough. I don’t think once a week is enough, either. I need to be praying for people on a DAILY basis.
I also started going to klove.com and praying for the people who send in prayer requests. I can see their first name and their request, and after I pray for them I click the “I prayed for you” button. It’s a really cool thing to be able to pray for people from all over the country; even if they don’t know it I’m making a difference in their lives by praying for them. I don’t know who they are, but God does! I have submitted a few prayer requests of my own as well.
I hope you will join me in praying this weekend (and always!). God bless y’all 🙂 ❤
