Happy Sunday everybody!!
We’re almost two weeks into 2020 already…how are you guys doing with your resolutions? I hope you’re still going strong, but if not, I wanted to take a minute to encourage you to not give up! The Lord’s mercies are new EVERY morning.
I believe that God has great things in store for this year, both for me and for everybody reading this! He wants to lead you deeper, wider, and higher than ever! But as Mark Batterson says (sorry, I quote him a lot), “This could be the greatest year of your life, your dream year, but you have to win the day.”
Like I said in my first CoCo’s Clips video, don’t focus on the failures but on the successes! You may have failed to get up early one or more days already, but don’t let that stop you from getting up early tomorrow. Even if you’ve already gone back to an addiction or a habit, don’t let that stop you from continuing to throw the chains off–you are free in Christ! Don’t let today’s (or yesterday’s) failures keep you from tomorrow’s successes. We still have 354 days left this year, so make them count. Don’t wait for 2021.
I did a plan on YouVersion recently called This Year I Will, and it really encouraged me to stop waiting and start doing. I pledged that 2020 will be the year of I will, and I intend to follow through with that commitment. I will write a book this year. I will run my second 5k this year. I will do better in school this year. It’s the year of I will and I’m done sitting on the sidelines. It’s time to get in the game.
What has God called you to do that you have yet to act on? Pray about it, propose a plan, and then pursue! Take each day as it comes and keep pressing on toward the prize.
I once heard apologist speaker Alex McFarland say this: “Trust God in the days, and He will be faithful in the years and decades.” Here’s a thought…we won’t ever be where God wants us to be unless we take the first step! We might have plans to be this and do that and reach a certain place by next year or even ten years from now. But nobody goes a mile without taking the first step.
Even if you’ve already wasted today, pick yourself back up and try again tomorrow! His mercies are new every morning. Choose to stop waiting and start doing. Seize your Monday and make it great. Excelsior!
This is the year.
Keep going strong and living for the King of kings!
